Basketball Game Preview: Century Jaguars vs. Newberg Tigers

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Century Jaguars challenge the Newberg Tigers at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday... The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Century and six for Newberg.

Last Tuesday, Century lost to Sherwood on the road by a 68-51 margin. While losing is never fun, the Jaguars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oregon basketball rankings (they are ranked 78th, while the Bowmen are ranked 12th).

Meanwhile, Newberg ended up a good deal behind McMinnville on Tuesday and lost 47-28.

Newberg's defeat dropped their record down to 2-13. As for Century, their loss dropped their record down to 8-7.

Century strolled past Newberg in their previous matchup back in February of 2024 by a score of 73-59. Does Century have another victory up their sleeve, or will Newberg turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
