Recap: Seguin Matadors vs. Veterans Memorial Patriots
The Seguin Matadors pushed their score all the way to 59 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were dealt a 90-59 loss at the hands of Veterans Memorial. Seguin has struggled against Veterans Memorial recently, as their game on Friday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Seguin still got an impressive performance from John Jackson, who scored 36 points along with seven rebounds. The match was Jackson's 17th in a row with at least ten points. Gabriel Hernandez was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
It was another big night for Demarion Dennis, who scored 23 points along with five rebounds for Veterans Memorial. Those 23 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Dj Jordan, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds.
Seguin has not been sharp recently, as they've lost nine of their last 11 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-10 record this season. As for Veterans Memorial, the victory (which was their 17th in a row) raised their record to 24-1.
Seguin will be playing in front of their home fans against Canyon at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Canyon is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. As for Veterans Memorial, they will head out on the road to face off against Wagner at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Wagner knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three contests -- so hopefully Veterans Memorial likes a good challenge.
