Basketball Recap: Pender Comes Up Short

After soaring to 57 points the game before, Pender was a bit more limited in their contest on Monday. They were outmatched by the East Columbus Gators and fell 50-23. The Patriots were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-8.

Maddison Francis was Pender's leading scorer, having posted ten points. Francis also led the team in rebounds with 12.

Malia Graham continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for East Columbus, dropping a double-double on 21 points and 19 boards. Graham's evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Rylie Graham, who posted six points in addition to 11 steals and six rebounds.

Pender has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season. As for East Columbus, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-3.

Pender didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 62-30 win against South Columbus on the 28th. East Columbus has also already played their next contest, a 73-48 defeat against East Bladen on the 28th.
