Soccer Game Preview: Wharton vs. Steinbrenner

The Wharton Wildcats will take on the Steinbrenner Warriors in a tournament on Friday. The two teams each escaped with close wins against their previous opponents.

Wharton saw some tournament action on Thursday. They beat Strawberry Crest by a goal, winning 2-1. Diana Fedossova had the honor of scoring the game-winner for the Wildcats.

Wharton used a slightly different lineup for their bout with Strawberry Crest. Sydney Steinberg played for 80 minutes having averaged 46.8 this season and Sophia Sauer got 80 vs. an average of 52.7. Steinberg made the most of the opportunity, scoring a goal A few more games like that and she might be seeing even more time going forward.

Meanwhile, Steinbrenner entered their tilt with Sumner on Thursday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They won by a goal and slipped past the Stingrays 3-2.

Steinbrenner pushed their record up to 13-1-2 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 47 goals over those eight matchups. As for Wharton, their victory bumped their record up to 10-3-2.
