Baseball Recap: Raymond Takes a Loss

Raymond lost against Lawrence County two weeks ago, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Rangers came up short against the Cougars, falling 18-1. That's two games in a row now that the Rangers have lost by exactly 17 runs.

Raymond saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brandon Jones, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

Raymond has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-15 record this season. As for Lawrence County, they pushed their record up to 11-10 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Raymond will welcome Pelahatchie at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Rangers are facing the Chiefs at the right time seeing as the Chiefs are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Lawrence County, they will be playing at home against Richland at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cougars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rangers have averaged an impressive 7.3 runs per game this season.
