Soccer Game Preview: Somerset vs. Barron

The Somerset Spartans will head out to take on the Barron Golden Bears at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Somerset sitting on nine straight wins and Barron on three.

Barron better have a healthy lead at halftime, because if Somerset's game on Thursday is any indication, that's when Somerset really gets things going. The Spartans never let Osceola get on the board and left with a 3-0 victory. Give Somerset's defense some credit: that's the team's fifth straight shutout.

Max Cochran and Xavier Roll scored all three of Somerset's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 37 goals.

Meanwhile, Barron made easy work of Unity on Thursday and carried off a 4-0 win.

Somerset's victory bumped their record up to 12-1-1. As for Barron, their win bumped their record up to 5-2-2.

Somerset took their victory against Barron when the teams last played back in September of 2024 by a conclusive 5-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Spartans since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
