Volleyball Recap: Lawrence Lions vs. Shawnee Mission East Lancers

After flying high against Shawnee Mission North last Thursday, Lawrence came back down to earth. The Lions fell 3-1 to the Shawnee Mission East Lancers on Tuesday. The Lions haven't had much luck with the Lancers recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Lawrence started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 25-27, 26-24, 25-16, 25-20.

Shawnee Mission East found their leader in sophomore Jessie Hill, who had 15 digs and four aces. Those four aces set a new season-high mark for Hill.

Lawrence's defeat dropped their record down to 1-11. As for Shawnee Mission East, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-6.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Lawrence will challenge rival Olathe South at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Shawnee Mission East is set to take on their familiar foe Shawnee Mission South at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
