Riley County hadn't done well against Valley Heights recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Falcons had just enough and edged out the Mustangs 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Falcons have posted since August 30th.

Riley County had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. The match finished with set scores of 20-25, 25-15, 25-20.

Their offense was headlined by Mina Spitler and Audrey Holle, who picked up 12 kills apiece. They got some help from Katelyn Allison and her 17 assists. She was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

The victory made it two in a row for Riley County and bumps their season record up to 9-4. As for Valley Heights, they moved to 8-4 with that defeat, which also ended their eight-game winning streak.

Riley County wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 2-0 win against Independent on the 13th. As for Valley Heights, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 2-0 victory against Chapman on the 13th.
