Flag Football Game Preview: Eastmark Firebirds vs. Desert Sunrise Golden Hawks + Official Tickets

The Eastmark Firebirds will take on the Desert Sunrise Golden Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Eastmark will be strutting in after a victory while Desert Sunrise will be coming in after a defeat.

Eastmark took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. Their defense stepped up to hand Peoria a 17-0 shutout. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Firebirds' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona flag football rankings (they are ranked ninth, while the Panthers are ranked 108th).

Meanwhile, Desert Sunrise came up short against Rio Rico on Tuesday and fell 14-6.

Eastmark pushed their record up to 9-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 0.0 points on average over those games. As for Desert Sunrise, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-8 record this season.

Everything came up roses for Eastmark against Desert Sunrise in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 42-0 win. Will the Firebirds repeat their success, or do the Golden Hawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
