Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Venice). They managed a 76-72 victory over the Sumner Stingrays on Monday.

Marcel Fil was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 30 points and 11 boards. The contest was his third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zeke Settles, who posted 12 points and five rebounds.

Karsten Walker and Bennard Anson certainly did their best on Monday to avoid the loss. Walker scored 22 points, while Anson put up 17 points. Anson continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. CJ McCray was another key player, putting up 12 points.

The win got Venice back to even at 10-10. As for Sumner, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-10 record this season.

Venice has already played their next match, a 75-66 defeat against Sarasota on the 22nd. As for Sumner, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 73-47 victory against Hillsborough on the 22nd.
