Baseball Recap: Hilmar Comes Up Short

Hilmar suffered their closest loss since March 19th on Friday. They fell just short of the Ripon Indians by a score of 4-2. The Yellowjackets were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Indians earlier this season, when they won 7-5.

Marlin Kindberg was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Hilmar saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was John Lopez, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Hilmar's defeat dropped their record down to 16-4. As for Ripon, their record is now 10-12.

Coming up, Hilmar will host Ripon Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Yellowjackets will need to watch out since the Knights have now posted at least ten runs in their last six contests. As for Ripon, they will head out on the road to face off against Escalon at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
