Baseball Game Preview: Baxter Springs Lions vs. Riverton Rams

The Baxter Springs Lions will venture away from home to challenge the Riverton Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Baxter Springs is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games.

Baxter Springs had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the seven-run drubbing they dealt Labette County on Thursday. The Lions put the hurt on the Grizzlies with a sharp 8-1 win.

Isaiah Main made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Main was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, Brooks Walker and Caster Herrera did most of the damage at the plate: Walker got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, while Herrera went 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. Those three hits gave Herrera a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Riverton didn't have quite enough to beat Columbus on Friday and fell 9-7. The Rams have struggled against the Titans recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.

Baxter Springs' record now sits at 11-8. As for Riverton, their loss dropped their record down to 7-9.

Baxter Springs couldn't quite finish off Riverton in their previous meeting back in April of 2025 and fell 3-1. Can the Lions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
