Recap: Rising Sun Shiners vs. Lawrenceburg Tigers
The Rising Sun Shiners lost against the Lawrenceburg Tigers back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Rising Sun ended up on the wrong side of a tough 65-40 walloping at the hands of Lawrenceburg. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Rising Sun in their matchups with Lawrenceburg: they've now lost seven in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Rising Sun lost, one person who can't be blamed is Brody Morris. Despite the final result, he scored 22 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Shorten, who scored seven points along with ten rebounds.
Rising Sun struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Lawrenceburg's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Cooper Bobo, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds. Bobo also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Charlie Meyer was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with five rebounds.
Rising Sun has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season. As for Lawrenceburg, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-5.
Rising Sun will square off against South Dearborn at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Lawrenceburg, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Switzerland County at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Switzerland County has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 325 points over their last five games.
