Baseball Game Preview: Milton Panthers vs. West Florida Jaguars

The Milton Panthers will venture away from home to face off against the West Florida Jaguars at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.

Milton lost 10-3 to South Warren on Thursday.

Saylor Melton made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 2-for-3. Jake Albrecht also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, West Florida waltzed into their match on Wednesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They came out on top against the Dolphins by a score of 9-5.

Ashton Bailey was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 3.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.

Bailey wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Harrison Vernier, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3. Those two runs gave Vernier a new career-high. Another was Jayden Thomas, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

West Florida pushed their record up to 20-3 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.2 runs over those games. As for Milton, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-11 record this season.
