Basketball Game Preview: Greeley West Spartans vs. Loveland Red Wolves

The Greeley West Spartans will face off against the Loveland Red Wolves at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Greeley West has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since December 19.

Greeley West is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Fossil Ridge on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Greeley West had to suffer through a 94-40 loss at the hands of Fossil Ridge. The Spartans were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 48-18.

Meanwhile, Loveland unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of Rocky Mountain by a score of 68-65. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Red Wolves came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 33rd, while the Lobos are ranked 156th).

Loveland's loss dropped their record down to 10-3. As for Greeley West, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-11.

Greeley West took a serious blow against Loveland in their previous meeting back in January of 2021, falling 71-41. Thankfully for Greeley West, Zack Rakowsky (who went 11 for 17 on his way to 28 points and five steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
