East Rowan and Central Cabarrus are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2021, but likely not for long. The Mustangs will welcome the Vikings at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

East Rowan was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Carson on Friday. The Mustangs were the clear victors by a 10-3 margin over the Cougars. The win continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now won seven in a row.

Meanwhile, after only one run in their last matchup, Central Cabarrus made sure to put some runs up on the board against Lake Norman on Thursday. The Vikings put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 15-4 victory.

Haley Rezy made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, Central Cabarrus got a massive performance out of Tess Hedrick, who went 3-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Those three hits gave Hedrick a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kinley Hood, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Central Cabarrus was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .452. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lake Norman only posted a batting average of .300.

Central Cabarrus' win bumped their record up to 11-5. As for East Rowan, their victory bumped their record up to 10-6.

Everything went East Rowan's way against Central Cabarrus when the teams last played back in April of 2025, as East Rowan made off with a 10-0 win. Do the Mustangs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Vikings turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
