Football Game Preview: California City Ravens vs. Desert Scorpions

For the first time this season, California City will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will face off against the Desert Scorpions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. California City has given up an average of 31.2 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

California City's offense might be in the hot seat on Friday considering what happened against Yosemite on Friday. They were dealt a 35-0 loss at the hands of the Badgers. The game marked the first time this year in which the Ravens were not able to get on the board.

Meanwhile, Desert played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by Desert Christian and fell 55-14. While losing is never fun, the Scorpions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 985th, while the Knights are ranked 15th).

Desert's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for California City, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.

Everything came up roses for California City against Desert in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, as the team secured a 49-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Ravens since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
