Basketball Recap: Jalee Johnson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Monterey over Red Boiling Springs

Monterey was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 20th straight defeat. They came up short against the Red Boiling Springs Bulldogs, falling 58-34. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 41-24 back in December of 2024.

Monterey's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jalee Johnson, who posted seven points. Johnson is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as she's posted one of at least 50% in the last three games she's played.

Monterey's defeat dropped their record down to 1-25. As for Red Boiling Springs, their win ended an 11-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-16.

Monterey didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 64-48 loss against Scott on the 14th. Red Boiling Springs does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
