Glenbard West hadn't done well against Downers Grove North recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Hilltoppers had just enough and edged out the Trojans 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Hilltoppers have posted since April 25th.

Olivia Salerno spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up nine Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Caroline Semprevivo, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April.

The victory made it two in a row for Glenbard West and bumps their season record up to 19-7. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games. As for Downers Grove North, their loss dropped their record down to 15-13.

Looking ahead, Glenbard West will look to defend their home field on Friday against Glenbard South at 4:30 p.m. As for Downers Grove North, they will challenge Taft at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The Trojans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 7.5 runs per game this season.
