Softball Recap: Kenyon-Wanamingo Knights vs. Goodhue Wildcats
Kenyon-Wanamingo extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping their season record down to 8-10 in the process. They lost 17-4 to the Goodhue Wildcats. The Knights were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wildcats apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.
As for Goodhue, they moved to 7-13 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by six runs or more this season.
For Goodhue's part, Emma Voth made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. Voth has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with five RBI, one triple, and one double. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jenna Nelson, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Lola Christianson, who went 1-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
