Football Recap: Bayfield Wolverines vs. Gallup Bengals
While Bayfield put up plenty of points on Friday, the same can't be said for Gallup. The Bayfield Wolverines blew past the Gallup Bengals, posting a 67-0 win at home. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Wolverines just coasted through the last quarter.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Bayfield to victory, but perhaps none more so than Cole Mcwhirter, who threw for 55 yards and three touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Estevan Gonzales was Mcwhirter's top target, rushing for 31 yards and a touchdown, while also catching a touchdown.
Bayfield wouldn't let Gallup keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. Kole Domingos was the leader in that area as all came courtesy of his dominant performance.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Bayfield was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 258 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since was before the start of last season.
The victory made it two in a row for Bayfield and bumps their season record up to 2-0. As for Gallup, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.
