Baseball Recap: Hillhouse Academics vs. Cheshire Rams
Hillhouse extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping them down to 5-12. They came up short against the Cheshire Rams, falling 12-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rams this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-2 back in April.
As for Cheshire, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their one-run performance the contest before.
For Cheshire's part, Josh Bonomo made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over 5.1 innings pitched. Bonomo was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
In other batting news, Johnny Nelson was incredible, going 2-for-5 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Max Enders was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Coincidentally, Hillhouse and Cheshire will both be playing East Haven the next time they take the field. The Academics will host the Yellowjackets at 9:15 a.m. on Saturday, while the Rams will head out to face them at 3:45 p.m. on Monday.
