Softball Game Preview: Trinity Bulldogs vs. Uwharrie Charter Academy Eagles

Trinity is 0-7 against Uwharrie Charter Academy since March of 2022 but things could change on Tuesday. The Bulldogs will head out to take on the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. Trinity has given up an average of 15.1 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Trinity is headed into Tuesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their eighth straight game on Friday. They lost 18-0 to Southwestern Randolph.

Meanwhile, Uwharrie Charter Academy hadn't done well against Chatham Central recently (they were 1-7 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Eagles blew past the Bears 15-7. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by six runs or more this season.

Peyton Williams was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. Williams was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (two).

In other batting news, Ryley Thompson was a standout: she scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in hits (two). Emory Johnson was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI.

Uwharrie Charter Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .389. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Uwharrie Charter Academy's record now sits at 8-5. As for Trinity, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-13.

Trinity might still be hurting after the 16-0 loss they got from Uwharrie Charter Academy in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Bulldogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
