Basketball Game Preview: Health Sciences Serpents vs. San Diego Academy Cavaliers

The Health Sciences Serpents will look to take advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they take on the San Diego Academy Cavaliers at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.

Having struggled with five defeats in a row, Health Sciences turned things around against Bostonia Global on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Lobos 53-13.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for San Diego Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They blew past Bostonia Global, posting a 63-12 victory. The game marked the Cavaliers' most dominant win of the season.

San Diego Academy found their leader in sophomore Rudy Nieto, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. Nieto also grabbed five steals, which is notable because San Diego Academy is 9-2 when he posts at least five steals, but 1-2 otherwise. Jason Love was another key player, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 14 boards.

Health Sciences' first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for San Diego Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.

Everything went Health Sciences' way against San Diego Academy in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, as Health Sciences made off with a 38-18 win. Will Health Sciences repeat their success, or does San Diego Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
