Softball Recap: Tri-Township Tigers vs. North White Vikings
Tri-Township had lost nine straight at home dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 0-10 to make it ten. They lost 22-2 to the North White Vikings. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Vikings apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.
Tri-Township saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bryleigh Rust, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
As for North White, their win bumped their record up to 8-9. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
On North White's side, Raelynn Anliker and Emma Jacobsma made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Anliker struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. Meanwhile, Jacobsma pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. At the plate, Anliker went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Jacobsma went 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits Jacobsma has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Melanie Crawford was incredible, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kaylyn Applegate, who went 4-for-5 with two runs and one RBI.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Tri-Township will take on Boone Grove at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for North White, they will face off against Carroll at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Vikings' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cougars have averaged an impressive 11.2 runs per game this season.
