Basketball Game Preview: Mt. Zion Bulldogs vs. Stone Mountain Pirates

Mt. Zion is preparing for their first region matchup of the season on Tuesday. They will be playing at home against the Stone Mountain Pirates at 7:30 p.m. Mt. Zion has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Mt. Zion is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They breezed past Utopian Academy for the Arts to the tune of 70-40 on Friday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Meanwhile, Stone Mountain had to start their season on the road back in November, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They were beaten by Lakeside 78-48. The loss continues a trend for the Pirates in their meetings with the Vikings: they've now lost four in a row.

Despite the defeat, Stone Mountain saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Zion Harrold shot 54% from the field to rack up 15 points.

The victory got Mt. Zion back to even at 3-3. As for Stone Mountain, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.

Mt. Zion didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Stone Mountain when the teams last played back in February, but they still walked away with a 65-61 win.
