Softball Recap: Agawam Wins Going Away Against Brattleboro

Agawam's game on Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Brattleboro Bears as they made off with a 13-2 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Brownies considering their one-run performance the match before.

Avery Gordon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on one hit and racked up 13 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Agawam got a massive performance out of Taylor Stairs, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs. Those two hits gave Stairs a new career-high. Alexina Lentes was another key player, going 2-for-3 with four RBI and one double.

Agawam hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Agawam now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Brattleboro, their defeat was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Agawam will host Holyoke at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. The Brownies' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Purple Knights have averaged an impressive 6.1 runs per game this season. As for Brattleboro, they will take on Bellows Falls at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bears' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Terriers have averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season.
