Basketball Game Preview: Northwestern Area Wildcats vs. Waubay/Summit Mustangs

The Northwestern Area Wildcats will venture away from home to challenge the Waubay/Summit Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Northwestern Area is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games.

Last Thursday, Northwestern Area was fully in charge, breezing past Aberdeen Christian 48-12. That 36 point margin sets a new team best for the Wildcats this season.

Meanwhile, Waubay/Summit won against Langford last Saturday with 43 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Monday. Waubay/Summit beat Langford by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 43-32. The victory continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with the Lions: they've now won four in a row.

Waubay/Summit now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Northwestern Area, they pushed their record up to 10-3 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.

Northwestern Area beat Waubay/Summit 54-47 in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Northwestern Area since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
