Softball Preview: Eastern Comets vs. Jay County Patriots

The Eastern Comets will face off against the Jay County Patriots at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Eastern comes in on four and Jay County on three.

Eastern proved they can win big last Friday (they won by 11) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Delphi Community, sneaking past 5-3.

Paige Wesner spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Emillia Andrews, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Eastern has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11.2 hits per game. However, it's not like Jay County struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.6 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
