Baseball Game Preview: Brewster Academy National Bobcats vs. Vermont Academy Wildcats

Brewster Academy National hasn't had much luck against Vermont Academy recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Bobcats will challenge the Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. Brewster Academy National will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.

Brewster Academy National took a 15-run defeat the last time they faced off against St. Paul's, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Bobcats had just enough and edged out the Big Red 7-6. The Bobcats' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Meanwhile, Vermont Academy had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.6 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Saturday. They came out on top against the Bulls by a score of 7-2.

Kaiden McCarthy tossed a big game, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over six innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Ryan Peloso was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Logan Sinacola, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Vermont Academy's victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 10.0 runs this season. As for Brewster Academy National, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.

Brewster Academy National couldn't quite get it done against Vermont Academy when the teams last played back in April of 2024 as they fell 9-4. Can the Bobcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
