Basketball Recap: Ellie Mudd's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Southern over Wilde Lake

Southern and Wilde Lake squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Southern had to settle for second. They fell 34-27 to the Wilde Lake Wildecats. The Bulldogs were not able to make up for their defeat to the Wildecats from their previous meeting back in December of 2019.

Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ellie Mudd, who posted eight points and eight boards. Southern is 3-1 when Mudd posts eight or more rebounds, but 7-14 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of La'Ren Watkins, who put up eight points.

Southern moved to 10-15 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Wilde Lake, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-11.

Southern does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Wilde Lake has already played their next matchup (against Hereford), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
