Amelia County is a perfect 9-0 against Cumberland since September of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Raiders will look to defend their home field against the Dukes at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Friday, Amelia County was able to grind out a solid win over Randolph-Henry, taking the game 28-21. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Raiders.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cumberland). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Prince Edward County 47-0. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Dukes considering their six-point performance the matchup before.

Cumberland's win came from a few key players Amelia County will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Xavier Booker, who rushed for 52 yards and two touchdowns on only five carries, and also picked up 56 receiving yards and one TD. Those two rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high. Neyo Hill was another key player, picking up 101 receiving yards and one score.

Cumberland's run defense was locked in: Prince Edward County could only muster 1.4 yards per carry. The team can thank Harland Patterson for the heroic effort on defense: he. Cumberland's ground attack was stronger, having averaged four.

Amelia County now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Cumberland, their victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 3-5.

Amelia County strolled past Cumberland in their previous matchup back in October of 2023 by a score of 30-12. Do the Raiders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Dukes turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
