Basketball Recap: Sabetha Falls Short of Royal Valley in the Playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Sabetha can now relate to. They took a blow against the Royal Valley Panthers on Thursday, falling 50-21. While losing is never fun, the Bluejays can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 249th, while the Panthers are ranked 95th).

Royal Valley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from KiWe Miller, who shot 47% from the field en route to 18 points and six rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Miller has scored at least a third of Royal Valley's points. Panno Wahwassuck was another key player, going 6-for-15 on her way to 18 points and seven boards.

Sabetha has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-18 record this season. The win (which was Royal Valley's third in a row) raised their record to 13-6.

Sabetha does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Royal Valley, they have already played their next matchup, a 58-43 victory against Heritage Christian Academy on the 4th.
