Baseball Recap: Hatley Takes a Loss

After flying high against Shannon on Monday, Hatley came back down to earth. The Tigers took a 10-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Amory Panthers on Tuesday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-0 back in February.

Cooper Crenshaw was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one run and one double. He has become a key player for Hatley: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least three hits, but 6-14 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Evan George, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI.

Hatley's loss dropped their record down to 9-15. As for Amory, they pushed their record up to 18-8 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Hatley is taking a road trip to challenge East Union at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Amory, they will take on North Pontotoc on Friday.
