Basketball Recap: Las Cruces Takes a Loss

After flying high against Gadsden last Monday, Las Cruces came back down to earth. The Las Cruces Bulldawgs fell just short of the Organ Mountain Knights by a score of 48-45 on Thursday. The Bulldawgs haven't had much luck with the Knights recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.

Organ Mountain's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lenny Washington, who posted ten points. Another player making a difference was Ray Venegas, who went 5-for-11 en route to 12 points and six boards.

Las Cruces' loss dropped their record down to 13-11. As for Organ Mountain, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 16 games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season.

Las Cruces didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 62-54 win against Alamogordo on the 17th. As for Organ Mountain, they have also already played their next contest, a 61-25 victory against Centennial on the 17th.
