Baseball Recap: Battle Mountain Takes a Loss

Battle Mountain extended their losing streak to eight on Friday, dropping them down to 2-12. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the West Wendover Wolverines. The Longhorns were not able to make up for their defeat to the Wolverines from their previous meeting back in April of 2025.

As for West Wendover, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-7 record this season. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.33 runs across that stretch.

For West Wendover's part, they saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Fabian Esparza, who went 1-for-2 with one double. That hit marked the first that Esparza has got this season.

While Battle Mountain had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
