Soccer Game Preview: Granger vs. West

The Granger Lancers will face off against the West Panthers at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. West took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Granger, who comes in off a win.

West better have a healthy lead at halftime, because if Granger's game on Tuesday is any indication, that's when Granger really gets things going. The Lancers blew past Kearns 5-2. Considering Granger have won four matchups by more than two goals this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, West managed to keep up with Layton Christian Academy until halftime on Wednesday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Panthers lost 8-3 to the Eagles. While losing is never fun, West can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah soccer rankings (they are ranked 100th, while Layton Christian Academy are ranked 19th).

West dropped their record down to 4-9 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Granger, their victory bumped their record up to 10-3.

Everything went Granger's way against West when the teams last played back in March, as Granger made off with an 8-2 win. Will the Lancers repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
