Softball Game Preview: Buford Yellow Jackets vs. Lancaster Bruins

The Buford Yellow Jackets will venture away from home to challenge the Lancaster Bruins at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Buford has four straight victories, Lancaster has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Buford's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They put the hurt on Andrew Jackson with a sharp 6-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Yellow Jackets, who have now won four contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Lancaster came up short against A.C. Flora on Thursday, falling 14-4. That's two games in a row now that the Bruins have lost by exactly ten runs.

Samaria Jackson was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Cameryn Cauthen also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Buford's victory was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Lancaster, their loss dropped their record down to 6-5.

Buford beat Lancaster 5-2 when the teams last played back in April of 2022. The rematch might be a little tougher for Buford since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
