Tunstall (Dry Fork, Va.) kept up a steady attack all game long to beat
Staunton River (Moneta, Va.), 35-7, on Saturday.
The Trojans were up 14-0 at the half after taking the lead on a
Chris Buckner touchdown pass to
Evan Huffman in the second quarter.
Tunstall expanded its lead to 28 points entering the fourth quarter. THS scored two times in the third, including once on a touchdown pass by Buckner to
Peyton Farrior.
Buckner was the top performer for the Dry Fork school. The junior quarterback threw three touchdowns.
The Golden Eagles' lone touchdown came on a 30-yard pass in the fourth quarter.
The Trojans got revenge for last year's 27-17 loss to Staunton River with the victory.
The win was a nice bounce back for Tunstall, which lost to Gretna last week, 17-14. The loss comes after Staunton River defeated James River 42-29 last week. The loss snapped SR's 2-game winning streak.
In a AA Piedmont game next week Tunstall (2-2) takes on Bassett, and Staunton River (2-3) will go up against Rockbridge County in a AA Blue Ridge game.
