Baseball Recap: Richfield's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

It was a proper cat-fight when Richfield faced off against Ogden on Friday. The Wildcats came out on top against the Tigers by a score of 9-6. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Wildcats as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Garrett Wayman was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Wayman was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Jess Curtis and Malik Fautin did most of the damage at the plate: Curtis got on base in two of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Fautin went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases Curtis has posted since back in March.

Richfield's victory bumped their record up to 8-16. As for Ogden, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-20.

Coming up, Richfield will square off against Providence Hall at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The Wildcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Patriots have averaged an impressive 9.6 runs per game this season. Ogden does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
