Baseball Recap: Delta Beats Esparto for Their Fourth Straight Win

Delta extended their winning streak to four on Thursday, bumping them up to 9-4. They were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over the Esparto Spartans. The result was nothing new for the Saints, who have now won eight contests by ten runs or more so far this season.

Chase Parkinson and Spencer Buckley made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Parkinson tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Buckley pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2025. At the plate, Parkinson went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI, while Buckley went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Cole Hutson was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Delta is 8-2 when Hutson posts two or more runs, but 1-2 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Wyatt Griffiths, who went 2-for-4 with one home run.

As for Esparto, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season. That's two games in a row now that they have lost by exactly ten runs.

On Esparto's side, they saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hernan Hernandez, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That double was Hernandez's first of the season.
