Basketball Game Preview: Laguna Hills Hawks vs. Santa Ana Saints

The Laguna Hills Hawks are taking a road trip to square off against the Santa Ana Saints at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Laguna Hills has three straight victories, Santa Ana has eight straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Laguna Hills is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took their matchup on Wednesday with ease, bagging a 92-42 win over Westminster. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded the Hawks with their most commanding win of the season.

Meanwhile, Santa Ana lost to Valencia on the road by a 75-56 margin on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Saints can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1024th, while the Tigers are ranked 381st).

Laguna Hills will need focus on slowing down Pedro Moran, one of several Santa Ana players who made an impact when they last played. He posted 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Carter, who scored 13 points.

Santa Ana's defeat dropped their record down to 4-14. As for Laguna Hills, they now have a winning record of 11-10.

Laguna Hills couldn't quite finish off Santa Ana in their previous meeting back in December of 2018 and fell 49-47. Can Laguna Hills avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
