Baseball Game Preview: Mooresville Pioneers vs. Lebanon Tigers

The Mooresville Pioneers will head out to take on the Lebanon Tigers at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.

Mooresville is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to ten runs on Wednesday, they were much more limited against Whiteland on Thursday. They took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Warriors.

Kiernan Herald was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed six innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits.

At the plate, Tyler Denny made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. He has become a key player for Mooresville: the team is 9-3 when he posts at least two runs, but 6-8 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Brody McGaha, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Lebanon, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They walked away with a 6-2 win over Crawfordsville on Friday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Tigers as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.

Bryce Nelson was excellent, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Andrew Kaylor, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Lebanon's record now sits at 4-23. As for Mooresville, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 15-11 record this season.

Mooresville couldn't quite get it done against Lebanon in their previous meeting back in May of 2021 as they fell 5-1. Can the Pioneers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
