Basketball Recap: Birmingham Comes Up Short

On Friday, the Birmingham Patriots were within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 76-70 to the Bakersfield Christian Eagles. While losing is never fun, the Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 485th, while the Eagles are ranked 201st).

Birmingham's defeat dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Bakersfield Christian, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-5.

Birmingham won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Palmdale at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Bakersfield Christian, they will also get right back to it: they'll challenge Montgomery at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Bakersfield Christian's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last nine contests.
