Basketball Preview: Wootton Patriots vs. Bethesda-Chevy Chase Barons
The Wootton Patriots will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Barons at 5:30 p.m. on February 9th. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Wootton didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against the Bulldogs, but they still walked away with a 40-34 win.
Meanwhile, Bethesda-Chevy Chase stacked a tenth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 57-35 margin over Walter Johnson. The win was familiar territory for Bethesda-Chevy Chase who now have four in a row.
Frances Doyle continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 21 points and 13 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Jaylin Harried was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
The victory got Wootton back to even at 8-8. As for Bethesda-Chevy Chase, they pushed their record up to 16-2 with that win, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Wootton took a serious blow against the Barons in their previous matchup back in January, falling 72-43. Can Wootton avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
