Basketball Game Preview: South Stokes Sauras vs. East Surry Cardinals

The South Stokes Sauras and the East Surry Cardinals will face off at 7:45 p.m. on Wednesday without much rest having both just played. The timing is sure in South Stokes' favor as the team sits on 20 straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while East Surry has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.

South Stokes is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Mount Airy, posting a 100-63 victory. The Sauras have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine games by 21 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, East Surry suffered their biggest loss since February 6, 2024 on Tuesday. They lost 65-40 to North Surry. While losing is never fun, the Cardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 387th, while the Greyhounds are ranked 158th).

South Stokes' win bumped their record up to 15-2. As for East Surry, they now have a losing record at 8-9.

Everything came up roses for South Stokes against East Surry in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, as the squad secured an 85-58 victory. Does South Stokes have another victory up their sleeve, or will East Surry turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
