Softball Recap: Vasquez Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Vasquez put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on the Hesperia Christian Patriots with a sharp 13-4 victory. That's two games straight that the Mustangs have won by exactly nine runs.

Mariah Pulido spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, Sadie Mendoza was incredible, firing off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 3-for-3. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. Daniella Escamilla was another key player, scoring four runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.

Vasquez always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hesperia Christian only posted an OBP of .367.

Vasquez pushed their record up to 3-0 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Hesperia Christian, their loss ended a six-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 1-1-1.

Coming up, Vasquez is packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game this season: they will face off against Grace at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hesperia Christian, they will be playing at home against Riverside Prep at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
