Basketball Game Preview: Thomas Sumter Academy Generals vs. King's Academy Lions

After both having extra time off, the Thomas Sumter Academy Generals and the King's Academy Lions will shake off the cobwebs and take on one another at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Back in December of 2024, Thomas Sumter Academy was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 35-29 to Colleton Prep Academy. The match marked the Generals' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Despite the loss, Thomas Sumter Academy got top-tier performance from Anna Bell, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 blocks. Those 12 points gave Bell a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ronia Sanders, who posted eight points and four steals.

Meanwhile, King's Academy took a blow against Pee Dee Academy back in December of 2024, falling 49-11. The defeat continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Golden Eagles: they've now lost nine in a row.

King's Academy's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Thomas Sumter Academy, they now have a losing record at 2-3.

Thomas Sumter Academy didn't have too much breathing room in their game against King's Academy in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, but they still walked away with a 46-42 victory. Will Thomas Sumter Academy repeat their success, or does King's Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
