Softball Recap: Lake Region Picks Up Seventh Consecutive Win

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lake Region). They never let the Winter Haven Blue Devils get on the board and left with a 16-0 win on Thursday. The Thunder might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by ten runs or more this season.

Kailyn Reeder made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kirsten Aldridge, who fired off two home runs and six RBI while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in RBI. Makenna Meadows was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while going 3-for-4.

Lake Region always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Winter Haven only posted an OBP of .158.

The victory (which was Lake Region's seventh in a row) raised their record to 8-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.6 runs on average over those games. As for Winter Haven, their loss was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-5.

Lake Region wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 3-2 win against George Jenkins on the 11th. As for Winter Haven, they have also already played their next contest, an 11-0 victory against Lakeland on the 10th.
