Basketball Recap: Southwest Florida Christian Falls Short of Donahue Catholic in the Playoffs

Southwest Florida Christian and Donahue Catholic squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Southwest Florida Christian had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Donahue Catholic Shamrocks by a score of 51-49. The loss continues a trend for the King's in their matchups with the Shamrocks: they've now lost three in a row.

Despite the loss, Southwest Florida Christian still got an impressive performance from Asa Rogosich, who posted 19 points and seven boards. That was a full 38.8% of Southwest Florida Christian's points, marking the 23rd time in a row he's put up more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Tafoya, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 11 points.

Even though they lost, Southwest Florida Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in six consecutive matches.

Donahue Catholic got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Isaac Loboda out in front who went 8 for 19 to rack up 25 points in addition to eight rebounds and six steals. Loboda's evening made it eight games in a row in which he has scored at least 18 points. Another player making a difference was Jack Kadlec, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 boards.

Southwest Florida Christian now has a losing record at 12-13. As for Donahue Catholic, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 15 of their last 16 games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-4 record this season.

Southwest Florida Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Donahue Catholic, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 52-47 victory against Seacrest Country Day on the 7th.
